Common Failure symptoms:

  • Non-start of the vehicle.
  • Rough running or non-starting.
  • Misfire over one or more cylinder, causing the engine management light to become illuminated
  • Poor throttle response.
  • Engine hesitation, constant illumination of the EML (engine management light)

 

Common fault codes:

  • P1604 – Replace ECU may be stored
  • P0601 – Internal ECU Malfunction
  • P0606 – internal ECU fault or communications faults from other electronic units.
  • P0201 – Cylinder 1 injector controller circuit
  • P0202 – Cylinder 2 injector controller circuit
  • P0203 – Cylinder 3 Injector controller circuit
  • P0204 – Cylinder 4 injector controller circuit and cause the engine management light to become constantly illuminated.

SOME ECU ERRORS:

ECU problem that causes the engine management light to come on and the engine to cut out and not restart when it is hot.

Internal component breakdown is very common, which may also prevent communications form the ECU to scan tools and the rest of the electronic units on the vehicle.

ECU is known for failing and causing the vehicle to run on two cylinders for the Saab 9-3.

ECU problems arise when internal components breakdown, usually caused by water ingress into the ECU. The most common issue is failure to start of the vehicle, or it may start and run very badly for a few minutes but then ultimately cut out. We offer a full test and rebuild service on this ECU

Purchasing a replacement is very expensive, it will require coding to the vehicle at an extra expense and will only be covered by a short one week warranty.
